Dental Services
DAP Health provides preventive and restorative dental services throughout San Diego and Riverside Counties for children and adults.
What Are Preventive and Restorative Dental Services?
Preventive dental services are offered to elementary school children during the school year in the Palm Springs, Desert Sands and Coachella Valley Unified School Districts through our School-Based Dental Services Program. Dentists and staff on mobile units provide exams, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. For required follow-up care, children are referred to one of the sites identified above.
Restorative dental services are also offered at all of the sites listed above. In general, these services include what we call “treatments,” such as extractions, fillings, root canals, bridges, crowns, dentures and related care. The exact treatment required for each patient is determined by the dentist when he/she reviews x-rays and conducts an exam during the initial visit and follow up visits that are recommended every six months.
How does Dental Services coordinate with DAP Health medical providers?
Dental Services works closely with DAP Health medical providers to ensure that care is coordinated to meet both the medical and dental needs of patients we serve. For example, if a child comes to a DAP Health Clinic for a well-child exam, the physician and staff refer the patient to dental services for preventive or restorative dental care. If an adult comes to dental services and has not been seen by a physician for preventive care or treatment for a known condition, dental services refer the patient for an appointment with a medical provider.
What payment source does Dental Services accept?
Payment sources for dental services are the same as those for medical services. These include Medi-Cal, commercial insurance (including certain HMOs and PPOs with whom we contract), cash and sliding fee payments. DAP Health has highly trained staff (CCS) available to assist patients to identify funding sources for which they may be eligible. Anyone of the dental sites listed above can provide contact information for the CCS most conveniently located to a patient’s home or work site.
