TAKE ADVANTAGE OF COVERED CALIFORNIA'S NEW AID PROGRAM
Special enrollment period started April 12 and runs through December. 

Under the American Rescue Plan, individuals that do not get health care coverage through an employer or do not qualify for Medi-Cal or Medicare could get lower cost insurance or more coverage for the same price. 

The American Rescue Plan allocated billions of federal dollars to reduce premiums for people who buy, or bought, their coverage through Covered California.

If you already have insurance or are going to buy insurance, this may be good for you. 

  • You can review your premium and potentially save thousands of dollars a year. 

  • You could shop around and save even more — or switch to a higher level of coverage without increasing your monthly bill. 

  • You can take an upfront tax credit from your premium or claim when you file for taxes the following year. 

  • If you bought insurance outside of Covered California, you might save a lot of money by switching to a plan with Covered California.

If the following applies to you then this is possibly not good for you. (You still may want to call just to make sure!) 

  • If you qualify for Medi-Cal or Medicare. 

  • If you qualify for insurance through your employer. 

  • It is not available for those who buy individual or family policies in the open market outside an ACA exchange. 

If you are coming to Covered California from the open market, it should be easy to keep doctors you like, since most off-exchange plans mirror ones in Covered California and have the same networks. But there are cases in which you would not be able to keep your doctors, so be sure to ask your insurer about it before making a final decision. 

You need to act now. The money won't just come to you. Research your options and enroll.
