DAP Health Magazine Edition 4: The Blossoming of Women's Health Care
As we near the end of 2023, what an honor it is to welcome you to DAP Health magazine’s fourth issue. As this is the first edition to be published since DAP Health absorbed the Borrego Health system earlier this year, I’m especially gratified to see so many of our newest employees quoted within these pages.
The cover story — “The Blossoming of Women’s Health” — represents a longtime dream become a reality at DAP Health, especially now that more than half of our patients are women and girls.
As with every issue, the other articles featured here run the gamut. Some profile valued donors, volunteers, or employees. Others proudly highlight DAP Health programs and services. And yet others cover issues and topics of interest to any reader who cares deeply about the state of health care in our region of Southern California and beyond. How does shame prevent people from accessing care?
How can we take a closer look at social drivers of health negatively impacting populations, and then strive to eradicate those barriers? Why is providing trauma-centered care such a wise practice? It’s a tremendous feat to express our mission between the covers of this magazine while also serving a diverse audience comprised of new or longtime patients, employees, donors, volunteers, community and health care partners, and fellow concerned citizens (whether they be well-aware of what we do or newcomers unfamiliar with our organization). I’m very proud of what our team of dedicated staffers, subject matter expert sources, and creative freelancers has achieved.
It’s my hope that by reading — and sharing — this publication, more and more people will come to understand a little more about the who, what, when, where, and why of DAP Health.
And so, enjoy every word and image!
