2022 DINING OUT FOR LIFE WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY, APRIL 28TH,
Dining Out For Life® is an annual fundraising event involving the generous participation of volunteers, corporate sponsors, and restaurants. The concept is simple: Restaurants, bars, and coffee shops donate a generous percent of their sales to DAP Health, and we fill participating locations with community members who want to support the mission of ending HIV. Participating is even easier: On April 28, 2022: Dine Out to End HIV.
This is a powerful story about the impact of generous restaurants and our local community. Palm Springs is the smallest participating market, but because of their commitment to DAP Health, we were second in overall fundraising in 2019. No other market can boast the level of commitment shown in Greater Palm Springs.
“Few other events bring DAP Health closer to our tap root of community action," DAP Health CEO David Brinkman says. "DAP was founded on unconditional love and guided by community members who defined and funded solutions to help those in need. I hope the community shares our great sense of pride in being home to the top three fundraising restaurants in North America for the three year in a row."
Think globally, act locally.
Each year, more than 50 local HIV service organizations partner with 2,400+ participating restaurants, 4,100+ volunteers, and 300,000+ diners to raise over $4.5 million for people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States and Canada. Best part? All funds raised through a city’s Dining Out For Life event stay in that city to provide help and hope to people living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS.
More than 80 local businesses joined together during the annual Dining Out for Life event in 2019 to raise money for local nonprofit DAP Health which provides medical, health and wellness services in Palm Springs.
Participating locations raised $307,000 to support patient services — Ranging from bars and bakeries to coffee shops and restaurants, each participating business donated at least 33% of its sales to the cause. In 2019, a record-breaking number of businesses donated 50% or more.
The funds support the work DAP Health does every day to end the HIV epidemic and care for individuals living with HIV.
NBC Cares talked with Liz Ostoich about why she participates.
"It is so important for individuals and businesses to give back when and how you are best able," Sparrows Lodge and Holiday House owner Jeff Brock wrote in an email to The Desert Sun about the 2019 event. "We have supported Dining Out for Life every year since we have owned the hotels. Our team loves it, our guests appreciate it, and we could not be more happy to support the work of DAP in serving its valley clients. It is a great event as it gets people out and helps raise awareness while enjoying a delicious meal."
